The Nicest towns I have been in, Red Hook, Rheinbeck, Tivoli, Millbrook, New Paltz, The Catskills are nice, and not a million miles from nowhere.
Albany is a very large Ghetto, thou there are decent parts to it, the outskirts are nice, stay away from Troy, Cohoes, Latham, Colonie, Schectady, Scotia, Amesterdam.. The outskirt country area to these places are nice.
Saratoga is nice, but very snobbish and touristy. Nice to visit but don’t want to live there.

Huh? Colonie, Scotia and Latham are places to stay away from? Even the other communities you named have some nice parts or aren't really that, but are more blue collar.

Latham, Colonie and Scotia I've always considered to be nice compared to a lot of other places. What do you consider to be wrong with them?

It really annoys me when.................
some people are asked about nice towns in NY, that they have a tendency to redirect the person to NJ and PA, without realizing what a gem of towns we have in upstate NY.

Saratoga is the best, great shopping, great atmosphere, and very well kept. I have to agree it is a little snobbish too, but what the heck, I dont live with them nor do I sleep with them.

Vast difference...........
in Saratoga real estate/housing than some of the other places mentioned......If there is unlimited budget for housing, then great, but it is pricier because of the arts and horsey crowd. I love it also, but be able to 'pony up' the cash
