Default Anyone have pictures of Saugerties?

I have heard Saugerties mentioned a bunch of times and keep hearing how it is turning into quite a place. I knew a business associate in NC 3 yrs ago whoe moved out of Saugerties and said it was trash. 25 yrs ago when I used to go up & down the river to NYC I found most of those towns Kingston, poughkeepsie, saugerties, Hudson and such all to be really run down and dirty looking. Would love to see differently.

Try These:

Saugerties NY - Hudson Valley Village

Village Of Saugerties: Homepage: [Digital Towpath]

Saugerties was never a dump like parts of the bigger towns you mentioned. It was always a decent small town ....even before its recent gentrification. HA It isn't shangri la , but its nice overall. I left because I like it further upstate (more rural, more snow) and we got a good price on the property and got more up here outside of Duanesburg..... (actually I'm in Knox Town, but near where Knox, Duanesburg, and Wright meet.

Default thank you for the good report

Wow. I wonder what this fellow in NC meant about Saugerties being trashy and couldnt wait to get out. This place seems really nice. He also mentioned that the taxes were deathly. It that true?? I know New York means High taxes in Dutch but I wonder just how high?

Thanks again for these links

Property taxes are bad, but probably equally as bad as other areas of the Hudson Valley around there. Example... as of a few years ago...400k assessment/8.5k a year in combined school/local property taxes. That is a 100% assessment. Many towns in Upstate NY are assessed at a fractional amount of true value. That works out to $21.30 per $1000 of assessed value.

Now the median house in Saugerties is about 250k I think so that means that typical homeowner would be paying $5325 a year. It may have gone up a few hundred dollars from that level since I left.

that seems high to me because I pay around 2300 a year for a similar priced home
