Default country woods subdivision in the chester area

Hello all, I just saw a very nice home in the country woods subdivision in chester. I was told by my realtor that this is actually located in blooming grove with a chester postal office and monroe schools. Does anyone have any information about this area? The drive to the monroe town was a little long, what else is there?

Default Wow!

I just checked out a listing in this subdivision as I've never heard of it. WOW - what a huge house.

After seeing the map, what your Realtor told you is probably correct. The Town of Blooming Grove does extend to that area between the towns of Chester and Monroe. That the subdivision falls within the Monroe-Woodbury school district boundaries is also probably true.

For folks moving here from other states, the "municipal mix-up" is hard to grasp. And just wait until you're settled here and go to vote! If one lives in a Village (which Country Woods does not appear to be in an incorporate Village), you vote in March for your Village government. Then in May for your school district budget and school board members. Then in November for the general election (town offiicers, state and federal respresentatives). Plus, depending on the policial parties, there may be primary elections in September. (Have I left anything out, Jason E.?) Oh, again, depending upon where you are domiciled, you may be encompassed by a fire district that also holds a separate election.

And, one final note, the Town of Blooming Grove is having a special vote tomorrow (8/14) to decide on the construction of a cell phone tower on Town land.

Hehe. You did leave out the county legislators, executives, and even the coroner. Note that you do not have to be a physician or funeral director to become coroner. It's a bit amusing:

"Is he dead?"
"I don't know. He looks dead. I'll declare him dead though."
"Wait! He just took a breath!"
"Oops."

While it's amusing, it appears to be a great way to get your foot in the door of county politics. Nobody knows who to vote for coroner so if you can place more signs than your opponent, you'll likely win. One of our county executives used the office of coroner as a stepping-stone to the executive office.

Where are the listings for this subdivision? I couldn't find any when I did a Google search.

That was good - Jason. And especially timely that you picked the position of coroner as an example. One of the county coroners is also a village trustee and will be on the ballot in the Fall for Blooming Grove town supervisor. (Or did you know this already.)

As to Country Woods - I found a home listed on Dream Homes Southern California Million Dollar Homes For Sale Real Estate. In Google I simply entered "Country Woods, Chester, NY". I think its the second or third link in the search results.
