I am currently going to a high school in Quebec, where students graduate at 11th grade rather than 12th grade. However is it possible for me to go directly to an American university (particularly in NY) right after grade 11 instead of taking CEGEP (2 year program done in Quebec after high school)?
Thanks

I'm not sure. I don't see why not? I graduated when I was 17. so I say google it, check with your high school & also contact the college(s)/universities you're interested in going to in NY for what the out of country student requirements are.

Hope this helped a bit.

Talk to the admissions department of the schools you're looking at--they should be familiar with working with international students, and if they aren't, you probably won't want to go there.

As long as your schoolwork for graduation is equivalent to the requirements in the US, you should have no problem. You should contact the schools you are interested in and ask about the information about requirements for a Canadian to attend. I knew quite a few students who came from the Hamilton Ontario area to Canisius College in Buffalo. We had at least 1 per year as a student teacher in our building (I taught in the Buffalo Public Schools)... so I guess the certification for teaching is transferable back to Ontario.
