Default Moving to Rockland County!

Hi all,

Born and raised NYer here. Grew up in Brooklyn, but have been living for the past 8 years in Staten Island. My wife and I have purchased a home and will be moving to the Tappan area really soon. We are both excited and was wondering on any tips from fellow Rocklandites on what we should do or things to add on our "to-do" list. We're relatively familiar with the area, as my brother in law lives in Blauvelt and we frequently visit them.

Anyhow, would appreciate anyone's comments and suggestions when moving to the area. We should be moving there by the end of October!

Depending on when you get here, drive up the Palisades Parkway and stop at Bear Mountain lookout. It's just beautiful at this time of year. Best of luck!

West Point is not too far away either - they have college sports and at times have broadway plays at their theatre.

If you decide to head off the beaten path then there is the roosevelt and vanderbilt mansions (google them for the town name it has been awhile LOL!) washington's house in Newburgh, good shopping up at the Harriman exit off the NYS thruway. If you go, be sure to check out Gasho's resturant there..very nice. There is a German resturant off 32 as well though the name escapes me right now I think it is the Black Forest Mill??

What are you into??? Outdoors stuff..historical sites..resturants??

Congrats on the house..that is not an easy area to get into the housing market! Very nice!

The Woodbury Commons are good. I go down there at least once a year to get stuff. The Palisades Center is one of the largest malls in the country. I think it's either exit 12 or 13 off of 87/287.
