Default Looking for apartments in the Binghamton/JC/Vestal/Endicott area

Hi all,

This past week I accepted a job offer with Lockheed Martin in Owego and will be moving from Atlanta to the area at the end of April. I have been researching the surrounding region over the past several days in order to get an idea of where I want to live. Clearly, Owego is not very big so I figure that I will have better luck looking for accommodations in the tri-cities area.

I have checked out Craigslist and other classifieds websites for available apartments. There seem to be plenty to choose from but hardly any meet my criteria. Probably the most important quality for me is that the apartment be relatively new (less than 10 years old). I have bad allergies when it comes to mold and the likelihood of mold growth in any building increases with age, which forces me to restrict my search to somewhat newer facilities. After looking in the area, though, it seems as if just about all apartments are quite old judging from the pictures. This probably has something to do with the lack of growth in the area negating the demand for new residental construction.

Regardless, I am still hoping I can find something that's not too old. Vestal seems to be a nice area having much of the metro's new construction. Does anyone know if this area or really any part of the tri-cities area has apartments less than 10 years old? Names of specific apartments would be great since I have already looked through most of the listing websites already. Thanks

Ithaca and Elmira may also work as well. With that said, I'd probably continue to look into the Triple Cities as well.

..Look up realtors in the online yellowpages. Contact a number of them and make new construction a top criteria. There should be something to work with for you without going all the way to Ithaca/Elmira.

True.... I thought of this website: RealtyUSA - Property - Property-List

I'd think that Endicott and Endwell would also work. I dare say that Owego wouldn't be too bad either. Maybe the Waverly/Athens/Sayre could be considered too.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Looking pack through the older Craigslist postings, I found something that may work for me. Brand new one bedroom apartments (http://binghamton.craigslist.org/apa/2807975119.html - broken link)

The apartments were built in the last couple of years and are located in Endicott. The listing has the exact address of the complex. Does anyone know if this is a good area?

You should be fine there and it isn't too far from Endwell as well.

Ithaca (50 min from Owego).
Chemung, elmira are a long commute :O
"Larger" areas close to owego are apalachian, newark valley (close but small).

Binghamton, vestal, johnson city, endicott, endwell are in broome county about 30min away.

The for apartments in broome county (binhamton area) I would check out the "Binghamton Press" news paper. For Owego you may want to check out their local paper. I don't recall a lot of new apartments going up in broome county except for students and the elderly.

Where ever you land, try to get baseboard heating not forced air!

bj2386, those apartments are in a pretty quiet residential area. Your neighbors across the street are very quiet - it is a cemetery . Those apartments were completed a few months ago, brand spanking new. They are on the corner of Newell Road and Taft Avenue in Endwell. Supermarkets are about 5 minutes drive west or northeast, and shopping in Vestal or Johnson City about 10 minutes away. You are about a 15-20 minute drive from Lockheed Martin in Owego.
