I've accepted a position at Stewart Int'l Airport and will be moving from southern NH in a couple weeks. I've been having the most terrible time finding a nice place to rent its just one dump after another! I'm a 26 y/o male and single so I'm looking for a Town I can move to that actually has SOME night life, but also a place I don't need to fear for my life. Does anyone have any recommendations for me as far as what place is best and any decent apartment/condo rentals (complexes) in the area?

Thank you!

Try Montgomery, NY

Village 10 minutes west of Stewart with a few bars & nightlife. No crime to speak of. Good amount of NYC commuters. Grocery store and more stores in town. Newburgh waterfront down the road for more nightlife opportunities. NYC in the distance for the upscale night clubs.

Other recommendations for you: Washingtonville, Goshen, Town of Wallkill / Middletown, New Windsor

You could look across the Hudson River in Dutchess County. There are some attractive locations there, too: Beacon, Wappingers Falls, Fishkill

Let me know if you have any questions!

Try Goshen or one of the complexes in the Scotchtown area between Goshen and Middletown. Close to bars, restaurants etc. but lower crime area than actually in Middletown itself. Easy and fast drive to Stewart.

Lots of nice apartments on CL in Wallkill, Monroe, Goshen, Chester, Montgomery. I'd stay away from Newburgh! New Paltz and Gardiner are great too and all only 90 minutes (no traffic times) to NYC.

Um I would go across the river to the Beacon area like one post mentioned but some of these other places have not much of what I would call a nightlife by any means such as Chester, Goshen,Washingtonville, or Monroe. Most parts of Middletown can be very "dumpy" and I would stay away from in most cases. Where u coming from and what's your budget for a rental?
