Just wondering if anyone else is from Chautauqua County. I pretty much lived my whole life there up until 6 months ago, I can't wait to get back. Beautiful peaceful place...

Hello
My husband is interested in buying a home in Dunkirk or Fredonia. How did you like this area?
I am a personal trainer and very active so I'd like access to a decent gym and lots of outdoor activities.
My daughter is of college age and wants to study photo-journalism.
We like the idea of a small town but also would like amenities close by such as theatres shopping etc.

fredonia state has a decent little theatre scene. buffalo has a prominent cultural scene, good mix of traditional, big-name fare and lots of edgier underground stuff too.

one kind of cool thing about chautauqua county is that there is a cultural underground. sure there are your rednecks and dopes in the area, but there are also a lot of people sincerely interested in art, music, theatre, etc. tap into it.

dunkirk isn't anywhere near as bad as anyone thinks. it is only thought of as bad because its the only urban area around. it still has crime rates FAR BELOW those of any real city. very cheap and very nice area.
