Default Kudos to Ithaca, the third best city in US to find a job!

Ithaca named third-best city in U.S. for finding a job

Ithaca earned accolades for its unemployment rate of 5.9 percent and job opportunities in education, manufacturing, technology, and tourism. Employers in the city are looking for engineers, quality-control professionals, quality-assurance professionals, construction managers, technical writers, and technicians, according to Adecco Staffing US. Ithaca only trails Washington DC, Austin, TX, and Ithaca, NY.

Ithaca is one of my favorite places!

I find it very hard to fathom that Ithaca is 3rd in the nation for job potential.... The fact that the Temp Agency is based in NY, the article is from a Central NY buisness magazine might schew the data a little.

Agreed! How does anyone compare Austin, DC, and Ithaca?

Populations:
Austin 790,390
Ithaca 30,014
Washington, D.C. 617,996

One of these things is not like the others.

Urban, you're in FL so why is Ithaca you're new favorite place on earth? Not exactly nearby.

As someone who lives a short drive from Ithaca, I agree with the previous posters. Can't quite grasp how Ithaca can possibly be 3rd best in the country, behind DC and Austin. Something doesn't add up.

I'm wondering if it is a ratio thing.

Also, when they say "city", it really means metro area. With that said, I wonder about the criteria.

Why does it matter if he's nearby or not? Colorado Springs is one of my favorite places, but that's nowhere near Syracuse. And seeing as you post in the Syracuse forum often, I'm surprised you've never caught the fact that urbanplanner is a CNY native.

I know urbanplanner is a CNY native. Still doesn't answer the question as to why Ithaca is his new favorite place especially since that article has a lot to question. Just because it's in print or on the internet doesn't mean it's true.

He never said Ithaca was one of his NEW favorite places. I'm willing to bet Ithaca isn't one of his favorite places because of that article either.
