I have found particles floating in my Pittsburgh water

The Rochester area really does give me hope for the Syracuse area. Not only does Rochester have the worst crime rate in Upstate NY, but Rochester's county...Monroe County is also the most polluted county in Upstate NY. Yet, the Rochester area continues to grow despite these two negatives.

This helps illustrate that a community's economy and aesthetics are more important than crime rate or pollution in attracting more jobs/residents.

I'm not sure of this- maybe it was the stress, but I swear that Ohio River water was making me go bald. I wouldn't be surprised if by the time you move back to Upstate NY you're hair thins out on top of your head just above your forehead. Thank goodness as soon as I moved back to Upstate my hair stopped/slowed the thinning.

Chautauqua if you like grapes and still a bit flat. Cattaragus county if you want more hills & its very reasonable and mostly rural. The old towns of the 1800s are basically gone -- the ones remaining are touristy and pricey (like Ellicottville), so going shopping - other than for ski stuff or antiques - means a long drive , but land is cheap and plentiful. I haven't lived there, but my kids are looking at land there.
