Rocking Horse Ranch Resort in Highland, NY (Hudson, Champlain: rentals, campground)

Anyone been there? Or heard about it? Is it good? Bad?

We (DH, myself and our 5 year old son) are looking for a place to spend Columbus Day weekend and this is one of the options.

Any other suggestions for a good family-friendly resort in Upstate NY?

Have never been there but have heard that it's a little pricey for what you get. Have you considered the Lake George area? Lots to see and do, easy ride into Vermont or Lake Champlain region. Lake George Escape is a campground with tariler and cabin rentals we have enjoyed many weekends there. Good luck with your search.

And the leaves may still be holding onto peak right around Lake George until Columbus Day Weekend, but past peak deeper int the ADKs by then. The Hudson Valley around Highland won't peak until the weekend after Columbus Day or later. That is is you care about that stuff.

Fort Ticonderoga is a nice day - from a Lake George base. I went to a cool Revolutionary war battle reinactment there a few weeks ago.
