Just saw on News 12 that the proposed tolls for the NEW Tappan Zee Bridge will be $14 cash, $13.30 with EZPass ( a whopping 5% deduction for not paying with cash) and an approximately $8 charge for resident commuters, whataver that entails...

I just dont understand how you can triple the cost of toll as people stuggle to make ends meet...I know this bridge has to be built but this is insane...all these politicians do here in NY is cry they have no $$$, ask for tax increases, toll increases....then cry they have no money....

i really think it is time for me to join the other 1.1 million NYers who have moved out of New York State over the last 10 years...

Tappan Zee to $14 in 2017
-> Same for the GWB

What I'll find interesting is if the Bear Mountain Bridge also gets hiked --- hopefully the Newburgh-Beacon isn't effected.

Means a drive to NYC from Newburgh will be in the neighborhood of $18 for tolls on the Thruway. No thanks, I'll cross farther up the Hudson and take 9. Makes the train look that much more appealing...

And as some may post the tolls ensure a quality infastructure and are not a detriment to buisness in NY...Yeah right.

Default Don't want to pay for it, then don't use it.

Everyone wants everything for free or wants someone else to pay for it in higher taxes even though that other person doesn't use it.

There has never been a "free meal" in my lifetime of experience.

A toll of $10 for using the Tappan Zee Bridge would be plenty and enough; nothing higher at this point in time.

Simple solutions.

Win the lottery!

Don't want to pay tolls on the Tappan Zee Bridge for your travel convenience of using it?. Don't use it.

Don't want to pay the tolls on the Thruway for the convenience of easier travel? Don't use the Thruway. You can use the Taconic State Parkway or Route 9 or Route 9W. Not convenient enough for you? Then pay the tolls on the Thruway for your travel convenience.

You can always consider moving to the east side of the Hudson River and using highways there. Then you' won't have the Tappan Zee Bridge tolls.

Move to Connecticut. Move to New Jersey.

When I use a toll road or toll bridge in any State or any City, I don't mind paying for the toll because its for my convenience; no one forces me to use them.

You can always consider moving to the better great State of South Carolina, maybe Texas or another Utopian southern State.

Remember, wages not going up is the fault of all the greedy, opportunistic, avaricious, acquisitive 1% - 2% rich wealthy Overlords who run Corporations using them as Casinos and make 500-1000 X more yearly income than us lowly serfs/peasants who they throw "crumbs" to. No one-person is actually worth those unwarranted gluttonous incomes/bonuses; its just legal absconding. The 1% - 2% hide their unwarranted gluttonous income & bonuses offshore in Swiss banks, the Cayman Islands, the Bahama Islands, and other secret money accounts in countries who don't disclose ill-gotten fortunes.

Tell your boss you need a "travel allowance" for your job. Tell your government representatives that they need to pass an income tax deduction for a "travel allowance" to commute to your job; I'm not kidding! Remember, the 1% - 2% wealthy rich have all sorts of deductions they can take off their income tax forms; company car, limo, travel expense, plane tickets, paying for "business" conferences, phone service, meals, hotels, tax accountants & lawyers, and on and on=all "called" business expenses.

Yeah. We serfs don't live right and many of us don't put the blame where it really belongs! Rich.

As far as I know there is no way to cross from NJ into the NYC area without paying a toll at some bridge or tunnel. Many people need to do business in NYC or simply NYC residents coming home occasionally are forced to pay these tolls. It isn't practical just to say everyone should move to avoid the tolls.
