Smile Relocating from TX to Ithaca

My husband accepted a position at Cornell and we are moving from DFW area to Ithaca late August. *******Ithaca, we need your help!! This is what we are looking for : *House, 3+BR *to rent in Ithaca, preferably Boynton Middle School district. (We are a family of four, children 12 and 14) *********************************** ** Max. $2000 rent / *min. 1800sqft + */ furnished or not, we are flexible. I know we're a bit late, but everything happened in the last 2 weeks. Any ideas???? Sabbatical homes are ok too, as long we have a residential address so we can register the kids for school. (Middle -and High School) Not sure if that works with "house sitting"?! I'm staying positive, who knows, maybe somebody knows somebody that knows some...........

Thanks a lot! Yes, I do check on Craigslist every day. It looks like there is a lot going on for students, less for family.

Usually, the RealtyUSA website shows rental homes, but I didn't see that option under the Ithaca section. here is what I could find: RealtyUSA - Property - Property-List

The Meadows at Ithaca Apartments in Ithaca, NY | Apartments.com

Lifestyle Properties, Apartments, Home Rentals, Housing, and Townhomes Ithaca, New York.

Apartments for lease, Homes for sale, Forest City Realty Ithaca New York

Thanks "ckhthankgod", I'll check out the campus-life site! All the other links, I know already and there is nothing that fits our wish list. I'm still positive!

I can't really offer you relocation advice or suggestions as I'm not from the Ithaca area, but I guarantee you guys will enjoy your time there. Nice town with quite a bit to do.

Hey, thanks a lot! I think we will! we used to life in Asheville NC and some folks say it's quiet similar, Ithaca and Asheville. For now, we're very happy to leave behind the Texas heat!

Try the Ithaca Times and the Ithaca State Journal for possible home rentals too. Trumansburg is another good area school district with more of a liberal vibe. Lansing is a good district with a suburban feel and is also very close to the Cornell campus. Newfield, Dryden and Groton round out the school districts in Tompkins County, with all of them being at least solid districts.

Thumps up "ckhthankgod" for all the infos!! I might have found a house in the Fall Creek neighborhood. I'm awaiting, hopefully, a positive response from the landlord. I will let you know! And I'll check the local newspaper anyway. Good source to get to know the area ----> what,where,when,......... I saw this cute house in Trumansburg but my son decided he wants to register for Senior High School in Ithaca. So Fall Creek sounds perfect.

Hey, I cant offer any information on the Ithaca area as I have never lived there. But I recently moved to the DFW area from North Carolina and am finishing my undergrad degree here and am planning to attend Cornell for graduate school. I hope you enjoy it and enjoy getting away from this miserable heat.
