Spent a little bit of time designing this shot of New York State defined by its Media Markets. Primary focus was on TV viewing and radio listening areas with some consideration given to MSAs. Hope you find it interesting and useful.
It is only missing the Utica-Rome and Elmira media markets. Besides that, it seems to be about right. What may make it interesting is that you can get Syracuse TV stations on cable in Ithaca, Watertown, Utica-Rome and parts of the Adirondacks and Finger Lakes. WSTM-3 from Syracuse is the NBC affiliate for the western part of the North Country and WTVH-5 in Syracuse is the closest CBS affiliate for the Utica-Rome area. I believe that WSYR-9 in Syracuse is the ABC affiliate for the Ithaca area(perhaps WENY 36 in Elmira) and the eastern portion of the Finger Lakes and the Southern Tier.

By that map, I "should" get Rochester as well as Buffalo. (I am way east of Buffalo). I have never, in 43+ years, gotten it. Lockport, Niagara Falls stations? Sure. [TORONTO as well.] But Rochester? This planner is putting "fringes" out too far.

The only Buffalo station I get in Greece The Lake" started out with promise, but then just got more mainstream and died.
As for the Rochester market, it should show going into Canada. Maybe it's just the unonstructed wavelength going over the open water, but the listeners and viewers are there.

I do agree, I should have extended Rochester's fringe area into Ontario. I can get radio stations from London, ON when in Oswego, NY courtesy of the Lake.
