can anyone tell me which upstate ny towns get the most or some tourist/visitor traffic? i will be moving to uny and opening and art gallery/studio so i'm looking for a place that gets tourists.

Ithaca, Corning, and Lake George would be the first three places that would come to mind.

might want to try chautauqua county. the summer months are crazy with tourists, especially around the chautauqua institution, and they all like art

I think Ellicottville might make the list. It is ski country. I also second Watkins Glen; very nice area. Letchworth is worth a look -- it has a huge craft festival in summer, but is not a town to live in, it is our "grand canyon of the east" and really deserves the name. Lewiston - it has Artpark .

What is the art type?

my artwork is contemporary nature oil paintings, pottery and other craft items.

You're right, how could I forget that. Based on what type of art, Lake George would probably not be a good place to be, then.
