Not sure if you mentioned it, but IBM sold it's microelectronics division to Globalfoundries (which already has a microprocessor plant in NY). So now Globalfoundries is the biggest maker of semiconductors in NY and they make AMD chips (including the processors for Sony Playstation, Nintendo, and X-box) as well as the microprocessors for IBM mainframes. Certain graphics microprocessors are made by Globalfoundries for AMD as well. And with the latest Apple contract certain processors for IPhones and IPADs will be made by Globalfoundries.

There is an article above showing that GlobalFoundaries is 3rd in the worldwide semiconductor marker, but it doesn't go into the detail you mentioned. Sounds like growth is in the forecast that for the company.
