Thanks - repped you... I'm firmly in the middle on this issue and do not feel I am an activist for either side (assault rifles, large capacity clips, and the gun show loophole). Yet these 3 things seem to be at the core of the current arguments and I would hope that BOTH sides debate within the spirit of the big picture. Unfortunately I seldom see this.

It's funny how the "big 3" (Guns, Abortion, and Religion) growing up that my mother warned me about discussing haven't changed today. They're as polarizing as they ever were... Politics in general is just a poisonous topic these days. Many people with the same general beliefs will still argue venomously and try to throw people into 2 buckets - nothing is grey anymore it seems.

Like I said, "if the reports are correct" because unlike you I realize there are conflicting accounts... But frankly I have yet to see any somewhat legit media source say he didn't have a Bushmaster - recently. There were all sorts of wild reports within the first 48 hours, many of them proven wrong later. What is your source telling you he didn't have a Bushmaster?[/QUOTE]

I've seen this before from other "right wing" sources (this web site is funny) - it's entirely based on a Today show that aired on Dec 15th less than 24 hours after the shooting occurred. The conspiracy theory requires that they were correct so soon after the incident and everyone since is part of a very far reaching coordinated cover-up. Meanwhile other erroneous early reports right after it happened said it was his brother who did the shooting because that's the ID they found on the body... "confirmed"... So who is spreading the false information?

No, you have it opposite... all of these "factual" sources go back to one single thing. That these media outlets (namely NBC's Today show on the morning of Dec 15th) got info correct immediately after the incident ("4 guns") and that there's been a coordinated elaborate cover-up since. I was following this story since it broke and info was very fluid that day and the next - reports were changing by the minute and hour. Plenty of things changed from initial reports... This is something that none of your "sources" here explains. The fact is that all current and updated reports say he used a Bushmaster Assault Rifle in that Elem school. That is not my opinion.

and I'm from LI... and yes, there's a Union County in NJ. What does that have to do with this?

The primary weapon used in the attack was a "Bushmaster AR-15 assault-type weapon," said Connecticut State Police Lt. Paul Vance. The rifle is a Bushmaster version of a widely made AR-15, the civilian version of the M-16 rifle used by the U.S. military. The original M-16 patent ran out years ago, and now the AR-15 is manufactured by several gunmakers. Unlike the military version, the AR-15 is a semiautomatic, firing one bullet per squeeze of the trigger. But like the M-16, ammunition is loaded through a magazine. In the school shooting, police say Lanza's rifle used numerous 30-round magazines.
An AR-15 is usually capable of firing a rate of 45 rounds per minute in semiautomatic mode

No, actually that was my post yesterday, but you don't seem to get bogged down in the space-time continuum stuff... especially when it gets in the way of your conspiracy theory and "facts".

Just realize that I can use your similar sources to prove the POTUS wasn't born in the US... that 9-11 was a government planned attack... etc... etc... the list goes on. As much as you'd like to believe it, it does not make them "facts".

Do you type with your tinfoil hat on... or is it kept somewhere safe and only taken out for special occasions?
