Hello everyone, I've been watching this forum for a while now trying to figure out the best move for my family (July). I decided to bite the bullet and just make a post to see if anyone could help me. Its seem I'm asking for too much or I don't know what I am doing. So here is the run down, it will be my husband and I and our 2 children 4 and 6 and we also have a dog. I currently live in Brooklyn NYC and am looking for a decent commute for when we are visiting family or them visiting us. We drive but I would prefer transit most times with the kids. I've thought about getting a rental agent because I haven't been successful.

Where are you coming from? NYC

Why are you moving? Would rather raise my kids out of the city and need more space

Where will you be working ? If NYC, what part of NYC?- We both work from home but would like a commute to visit family

Will you buy or rent? Renting for now

What is your budget ? $1200 a month

What kind of place are you looking for? I would prefer to rent a house because I don't want to deal with neighbors complaining about noise from my kids and we would like a backyard for the kids and dog

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you? yes, spouse, kids and dog

Do you need/want good public schools? yes

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in
families with young children or quiet neighborhood

List three things that are important to you in order of importance.

1) Safety
2) Good schools
3) Easy commute to NYC

To fit that budget, you'll have to head to Orange or Dutchess County.

Some places to check out: Beacon, Wappingers, Fishkill, Town of Newburgh, Montgomery, Washingtonville, Chester, Town of Wallkill, maybe Monroe/Woodbury

Your "three important things" is also satisfied at these locations.
