It's not really that bad. Yes, it has seen better days, but you will get this from people that have been there a while or that left the area. There are still some nice neighborhoods in the city of Utica.

This is off topic, but does anyone know much about New York Mills? I have heard the schools are good, atleast in sports. I like the area surrounding Utica, it's close to Cooperstown and between Syracuse and Albany.

New York Mills is a very small village right next to Utica. It's a nice enough place, but not any better than other surrounding towns / villages. Large percentage of Polish immigrants back in the day. Good schools. Pretty good sports for Class D. Not by any means a power.

Avoid Utica or anywhere within 100 miles of it at all costs. It is a den of sin, with doped up savages roaming and prowling the streets for pleasure. Utica is beyond all hope, nobody belongs there these days except kiddie molesters, dopers, and gang bangers. If you are a decent person, I urge you to avoid this entire area at all costs.

Get real, Father Johnson. Whitesboro, New Hartford, Clinton, Deerfield, Westmoreland (just a few suburbs outside of Utica) are great places to live (specifically very little crime and house prices are very reasonable). Don't go giving a false impression that Utica and the surrounding areas are a bad place to live. The only problem with the area is a lack of good jobs.
