Default Wanting to relocate from Louisiana to Upstate New York

Hello Everyone Just wanted a little information about upstate New York. My husband and I currently live in Louisiana and ever since I was a girl I have wanted to move upstate (My mother grew up in Worchester) and we would visit my grandparents every summer... and I just adored it! I am a real nature girl and the mountains, lakes, and rivers are just up my alley.. I am currently getting my LPN and my husband is finishing his RN and when we are both done we really want to get out of here! What I want to know is where would you think the best place to for me to move in upstate? Here are a few requiments.... country setting... lower taxes.... opprtunity for nurses (by the way how is nursing pay there? Hospital and Homehealth) I really was thinking Something in the catskilll or Delware county area... what are your opinions? Any advice?

I am only familiar with WNY - the taxes can be high in some of the places, in rural areas not so bad, nursing as far as i know depending on the location pays between 20-30 an hour and your specialty brings more - welcome back to ny

Post Don't blame you..............

I am originally from the deepest south and now love the mountains, hiking, and boating, even have snow shoes and xcountry skis and can't wait to try snowmobiling. Nurses have it made in this area, but it is cold up here......If you like a mix of country and lakes and nearby cities, you should at least check out this area and hospital. We are in Plattsburgh and the online site is CVPH.org (Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital). There are jobs listed on the site as well and I am sure that they would be glad to answer your questions or send you info. They just got an outstanding ranking on their new cardiac unit and are ever expanding the hospital.......there is a huge expansion project going on right now. Next month there is a new airline flying directly in and out of here going to Fort Lauderdale like Southwest........and the next one they are lining up is supposed to go to Myrtle Beach. It is a great area to have outdoor activities, kids, and fun. We are surrounded by great places to visit also.......Montreal, Lake Placid, Burlington Vermont is across the lake, and NYC is an Amtrak ride away directly into Penn Station........just thought I would mention it to look at. Not as pricey for real estate as some other places, but tons of nature..........Good luck and have fun doing research!
