I graduated from Greenville School 5 years ago, I graduated college in December of last year. Greenville has a very good program for accomodating any special needs, I know this because my younger brother was in the program. I enjoyed my eduaction there and there are no problems with gangs because they run a very tight ship with things like that. I now live in Cairo, I love the area. I worked for a local newspaper during my internship at college and had to do a number of articles on the Cairo-Durham district which included quite a bit of research. In my opinion they have come a very long way and are still working on more and more progress. They have an excellent superintendent Sally Sharkey who I am sure would answer any questions for you. She always took time for me and I was a member of the press. Furthermore there seems to be an immense level of support for C-D locally, many people genuinely care about the school and the students. In terms of horrible bus rides I don't think it would be so bad for C-D the towns are very close I could have probably been on the other side of Durham in the time it took to write this reply. I wouldn't worry about gangs within the school, it seems all the bad eggs drop out anyway, cause major problems and end up in jail elsewhere. I am not as certain about Catskill, it seems to be a good school. They did a commercial looking for sub teachers not too long ago and the students were in the commercial which shows some excellent participation and care on their behalf. As far as gangs in Catskill I can't say for sure but this is the first I have ever heard of it and I read the local papers daily. In any case good luck and I am in full agreement with being involved with your child's education, that is priceless, good for you and great for your kids!
