Doctor recommendations in Poughkeepsie/New Paltz? (Fishkill, Hudson: hospitals, move, market)

Hi there -

I'm looking for doctor recommendations for the Poughkeepsie/New Paltz area. It seems a little strange to be asking complete strangers online for such a personal question, but the truth is we just moved here a month ago and everybody I know in town is a stranger to me, so what the heck!

I'm particularly in the market for a GP and an OB/GYN (or even just a GYN). Also, if anybody has had any good experiences at any of the local hospitals or emergency rooms, that would be great to know, too!

I've used for years Fishkill OB/Gyn, they just are the best in the area IMHO. I've gone to 1 or 2 others and didn't care for their attitudes towards issues. I now use for a GP New Century Medical Group. Good responses, have PA's for those sick days and can always be seen that day. I would suggest you stay FAR away from Mid Hudson Medical-I was with them for 40 years-my family since it started. It's changed SO much and as the saying goes-they've gotten too big for their britches.

FirstCare Medical Center is amazing. Check it out FirstCareMedCenter.com. They are a walk-in center, but I use them for my family general medical stuff. You've never seen a medical center as nice as this one or staff as nice as these guys.

SteveW- You wouldn't by any chance be Dr. Steve Weinstein- the owner of FirstCare? If you want to push your own new center, say so. If not, how long have you taking your family this office, to so highly recommend it?

I only had my family there once. It was enough to know there was something new and different about the place. We liked it. That's all. No worries mate.
