Isn't that funny? I have always dreamt of a white christmas! I am sure it might get old after a while! But it looks so amazingly beautiful!
About my husband working in the cold....I was hoping he would be able to do enough outside work in the warm season, and then do the indoor work during the cold. Hopefully it would work out that way.
Thanks so much for the info! If you come up with anything promising, let me know!

Thanks so much for the leads. I am going to let my husband look at that website. I know his plan was to have his own business, but maybe it would be a good place to start! I think I have him talked into taking a trip over just to check thing out! Maybe the end of this month if there isn't too much snow!
I will definitely keep that information! If you think of anything else, I would love top hear it!

I live in Rochester, NY. I too am a small contractor. The comp ins. is high, there are too many contractors here as is, per capita, taxes themselves are high and getting higher. Your husband may get a couple of jobs in a row then melt down, get a job here, then melt again. Go where there is no snow, alot of Mexicans and he'll be able to work more year 'round.

Upstate Work
I think part of it depends how far upstate you go. There are many poor counties in NYS with some of the cheapest real estate in the US. This is not where you'll make your money. However, I owned a home in Ulster County and everyone was always looking for good reliable contractors. I think if your husband is good, reliable (very important) and personable, he can make a good living in that area. It will take some time for word to get around, but anything worthwhile takes time. I'd stick to Ulster and Dutchess County where many NYC residents have second homes. Good luck!
