Default Westtown, NY? Orange County..

Does anyone have any knowledge about this town? It's right near Goshen in Orange County.

nj2ny,

Westtown is an absoultely gorgeous town. The views there are amazing. The prices are pretty good there. The only real problem with that immediate area is there isn't too much in the immediate area as far as shopping is concerned (which is the problem for most of Orange County). You pretty much resort to driving either into Port Jervis or Middletown for most of your shopping needs.

Other than that it is a great town and a great area. I see you are going to be coming from Jersey, where are you going to be working? Commuting back to Jersey or working locally?

Let me know if you have any other questions!

~Joey

Hey Joey,

Thanks much for the response! I expected something along the lines of what you explained as far as the shopping. That's not a big deal as I prefer a town which isn't overdeveloped. My main concerns are schools (I hear minisink is good) and the overall area as far as safety, community and property value.

I would be commuting back to NJ for a while until I could find a suitable warehouse location to move my business.

I believe you are correct, there is. There are also a handful of other sites in Chester and locally that have space available.

Minisink Schools are (from what other buyers/sellers tell me) one of the more desireable school districts in the county. If you go to
School Information - Public School Reports - School Ratings - School Rankings - National
GreatSchools.net
you can search for information on school districts.

Let me know if you have any trouble finding the information....

Good luck!

Hi,
I am new to this forum. I went on to find out info about westtown for myself. I currently live in Orange, Blooming Grove. We just sold our house and we are looking for property to build. I can't decide on location and its driving me crazy. Westtown is beautiful and I too have heard the schools are great. My brother in law teaches in Middletown and is looking to move his family to this school district. I will know in a few weeks weather we will be neighbors or not. I am looking at property off of 284 Whiteford Road.
The commutting to work(Rockland, Jersey or NYC) is probably the worse part about living here.
Best of Luck and Orange County is a nice area to Live

Default Westtown is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I've lived in the Minisink area my whole life and love it! It has a great school district! I lived in several neighboring towns of Westtown in the past, but now am happy to say I'm in Westtown. If you want peace & quiet this is the place for you. Good luck! If you have any ?'s don't hesitate to ask.

How much are the average utility costs per month in your area (oil, electric, etc.)?
I am also moving to Minisink from overdeveloped NJ. Any other cost of living info would be great. Thanks!!!
