Haverstraw New York in Rockland (Hope: condo, homes, best schools)

Hi I went to visit the Harbors at Haverstraw can anyone tell me anything about the location and the schools in north rockland? Is is a nice area for a young family?

That's a good area for a young family. North Rockland schools aren't bad, but they aren't (from what I'm told by my clients) "the best schools in Rockland". My advice to you would be to look at schoolmatch.com and schoolmatters.com that way you can see how the area schools match up and get actual stats vice taking someone elses word for it.

Personally, I love the Harbors at Haverstraw, I think it's a gorgeous community and the views from some of those homes are AMAZING!

I live in Haverstraw and if I'm not mistaken, the Harbors are the new condo's put up right on the water near the NY Waterway Ferry. Please bear in mind: They are built right next to a rock quarry and while they themselves are nice, it is noisy down there and a big issue is the dust that blows over into the Harbors development, coating the windows and filling the air while work is being done next door.

As for the area, the actual of Village of Haverstraw nearby has come a long way, but there is still work to do (the police department had to install cameras in random places in the Village 10 years ago). It is one of those "up and coming" towns in Rockland, however, so if you're looking to make an investment in the area, it might not be a bad idea. But there are nicer places and better schools in other places in Rockland County.

North Rockland schools aren't bad, but it is a BIG district. North Rockland High School is crowded! If you are looking for a more intimate education for your child, you might want to look elsewhere.
