Wink Germantown Newspapers

Hi. I would like to research old Germantown, NY newspapers. My great-great-grandparents, Thomas and Catherine Keyes (Irish immigrants), and their daughters Anna and Kate, lived in Germantown from 1860 to about 1865. By 1865 they had moved to Hudson, NY. According to my grandfather's research notes, Thomas Keyes was murdered in Hudson in 1880.

Since Thomas was originally a resident of Germantown, it's possible that the murder was reported in an 1880 Germantown newspaper. Can anyone advise me on where I can find such newspapers, either on line or on microfilm? (I've already been searching Hudson newspapers but haven't found anything). I can be reached at clarehhiggins@yahoo.com.

(Please note there are two "h's" after my first name). Thank you. -- Clare
