Default Services for special needs kids in Mahopac

We are strongly considering moving to Mahopac in the near future. I have a son who has SID/ADHD who is in first grade and a toddler who probably has ASD.

Are there any parents out there who can speak to the quality of the services available to special needs kids? I am aware they have a special kindergarten program, but what about pre-school? Any parents of kids with ADHD? Are you satisfied with the way the district handles your needs?

Much TIA

I am also planning on moving to Mahopac within the next few months. I am currently looking into the services offered. I have 2 children. My son is in Kindergarden and has symptoms of ADHD (currently testing him for that) and also needs speech therapy and OT. My daughter has some speech therapy.

I will be looking into it within the next few weeks and discuss with the school district.

I plan on emailing the school in which my kids are attending to find out who to contact and then take it from there.

Good luck.

Default special needs kids in mahopac schools

I have special needs kids in the schools here in Mahopac. I would say definitely do your research. I am looking into private schools to get my kids out. The just shuffle the kids through. As far as the special kindergarten ...that program has totoally changed after the teachers and aides were arrested for child abuse!!!! So I would say if you want to live in a rediculously over priced area, pay taxes up the kazoo, (thelibrary costs over 800,000 to operate) deal with a run down old town, with schools who cant meet childrens' needs (unless it is sports) than move here. Good luck to you both... I know special needs kids are a challenge.
