Catie is on a distinguished road
Default Thak you to the two kind strangers in Patterson NY

I want to say thank you to two very kind folks from Patterson New York. A few weeks back I was driving through the area....lost. I pulled into a gas station and pull out my map to see where I was and what would be the best way to go home.

From my location I could have continued south, however, I decided I wanted to drive west towards the river and stop in Cold Spring (I could take the Bear Mt Bridge to get home)...the only problem was I had no idea to get from Patterson to Cold Spring.

I went into the convenience store and asked the woman behind the counter how to get to Cold Spring. She didn't know. I said thanks and went to look for some candy and a soda.

I then I heard the lady behind the counter speaking to a man who she called Francis (I heard her calling to him from across the store). She asked this man directions for Cold Spring because she didn’t know where the town was located. Next, I heard him ask who was asking for directions...at which time I popped my head out from behind the candy aisle and told them I was looking for directions. The man drew me a map. He told me the route was not direct and part of the way I would go throughvarious streets including a country road located that winds through a state forest.

I paid for my stuff, bought a lotto ticked (sorry to say it was not a winner- oh well) and thanked them both before heading on my way.

I followed the directions and at first, I thought I was lost but I did find the country road he was talking about. It was so beautiful- The trees and lakes were awesome. At the end of my journey, I wound up on Main Street in Cold Spring (the scenic road is worth the drive. especially in the fall). The scenic drive really perked up my day.

People mistakenly say New Yorkers are rude. However, these people were anything but rude. When I asked for directions the woman in the convenience store could have said, “I don't know” and went on her way. It was very nice to ask her friend for directions and he was very nice to take the time to draw me a map.

I will never see these two people again, but if someone knows them, or if of these folks happen to read this post, I want to thank you both very much for your kindness.

Thanks again

Catie
