duplicated but not perfected. I haven't had a good wing outside of western ny. Everywhere else is horrible. Along with pizza. I have not had a good slice of pizza outside of the northeast. Other places just don't know how to do it. Just like Mexican food up here is sub par. I've even been to wing places that were opened up by people from Buffalo supposedly. They still sucked.

I went to a TGI-Friday's in Philadephia and ordered their "Buffalo wings" which turns out wasn't authentic at all to what's made here in Buffalo.

Garmin, I do admire your pride. But I think we are just on different wavelengths... I think there is more to dining than pizza, wings, and AmeriMexican. So Buffalo is the ONLY place in this great land that does not produce the aforementioned dishes horribly? I am serious, I do admire your pride. I guess I do have my pride in Buffalo too, but I am not hanging it on fast food
FedupWNY, there's crappy food to be found everywhere, and finding it at TGIF does not surprise me in the least.

I'm not from Buffalo, just enjoy the food. Yes ,there is more to dining than the greasy pizza/wing type dishes, I agree. But when it comes to certain foods, certain geographical areas are better than the others. I haven't had a good mexican dish in the northeast. I havent had a good slice of pizza outside of the northeast. Haven't had a good wing outside of western ny. Transplants can attempt these things in other areas, but they don't compare to the original.

I'm one of the biggest boosters for WNY and the northeast in general...but even I admit, I've had good pizza and good wings outside the region. 'em are wings in Apex is sort of like a dive bar/restaraunt who's specialty is chicken wings. They're pretty good.

There's more to WNY than food. We've got skiing & snowboarding in the southtowns in the winter, boating/sailing in the summer on Lakes Erie & Ontario. Hiking in Zoar Valley. The Erie Canal Locks - a place of great historical value as well. Our closeness to Canada & Niagara Falls.
Trivia: Did anyone know that the Niagara River flows in a northern direction?
We have several Frank Lloyd Wright designs built here and many other architectural originals (in Buffalo), still standing... still being used. Churches are probably the most unique though. Tourism like Lucile Ball's home in Jamestown. The quaintness of old small town in Ellicotville.
The most positive of all in WNY is our scenery through all four seasons. Trees that if you take a picture of them every 4 months you get the best of what Mother Nature has to offer.

I was wondering if someone was going to name that one as well. You really are informed.

Well, I've kind of lived within 5 miles of it for 3/4 of my life. I'd have to be incredibly "un-informed" to not know that. haha

I've been following all the threads on Syracuse (considering moving there), and this is the first one that talks about any positives. The sheer volume of negative comments is scarey -- esp comparing it to threads on other cities in the US I've lived in (even if they're also in similar climates) where people seem more upbeat/positive, and provide a good critique. I'm getting frigthened away from coming to Syracuse from horrid stuff i hear about the huge amounts of snow, the rundown city, lack of jobs, unfriendly people, etc.
Can people please tell me about living in downtown Syracuse, and what's positive about it enough for me to move from London?
