Poll: NYS residents would move if possible - 13WHAM ABC Rochester NY - Top Stories

Surprised it's not higher, but Illinois takes the cake.

If you're looking to move to South Carolina or the Lowcountry area, PM me for help, I'll be glad to assist.

This article has been rehahsed so many times on here. Here is another thread about this: 33% of Americans overall want to move out of their state and a post that actually sums up what the article is about: http://www.city-data.com/forum/34616595-post5.html

All of the percentages are pretty high too.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the question in the specific post you referenced.

Regardless of plans to move just means suspend disbelief of the funds, job requirements, and other things tying you to a region, preventing you from doing what you truly want, what would you want to do?

It's getting at the desire, not the practicality. Basically, for example, if one wins the lottery, there's a 41% chance they'd move out of the state.

It's about the desire, which can be detrimental to one's health if practicality stands in the way. It's simple self-discrepancy theory: Self-discrepancy theory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Take "obligational" variables out of the picture. What do you want to do?

I think it may be a matter of want versus actually doing it is what that poster and others are getting at. Many people may say one thing and do something else.

There's also the vagueness of the article in terms of what part of the state and other personal factors. That's all.

You're absolutely right; there is a difference between want vs. doing. But some would say equally as bad.

I moved out of Queens, NY in 2000 and never thought I will move back to NY; however, I had to move back to LI in 2010 for a work related project. Didn't like living for a year but slowly started to love it to a point where the project ends in a year and I am not sure if I wanted to move out of NY - and that's too after getting a good $600.00 speeding ticket the other day on Bronx River Parkway.

I'm definitely one of the 41%. As soon as I can, I'm gone. If all goes well that will happen in less than a decade.
