You sound jealous.

To be fair, these should also be made public:

• the names and salaries of all employees of companies who have received any kind of tax break or incentive
• anyone on a government welfare program (food cards, WIC, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.)
• anyone on social security (retired or on disability)

Well, they all receive taxpayer money or taxpayer-funded services, right? Why single out public employees (who earn their pay, deferred and otherwise)?

Individuals pay into Medicare as well as SS retirement and disability. The taxpayer is receiving the benefit s/he paid into.

Did you mean SSI?

And the majority of pension funding (at least at the state level) comes from employee contributions and investment returns. The retiree is receiving the benefit s/he paid into, at least for a time, and earned either way.
