The first time I had a beer in a bar was at the Chapter House. I was a 17 year old senior in high school (the drinking age then was 18). The place was 2 blocks from my house.

The building housing the Chapter House and an adjacent apartment building burned down last year:



Looks like there's a chance for a rebuild:

^It has opened up new areas of the waterfront. Ithaca needs to make the waterfront a more integral part of the city's appeal.

I hope the powers that be in Ithaca (and the Nimby citizens) realize the city has opportunities to increase the tax base and, with some added effort, start to put a dent in the affordable housing problem. The results of a recent study show the need for many more housing units in downtown than are currently planned. From the Ithaca Voice:
