Default Utica-Rome NY

As a real estate investor, I see tons of cheap properties on the market in Utica and Rome but very few in the areas like Whitesboro, Oriskany, etc.

Its cause both Utica and Rome are cities.. yet they are very small cities, and what you are seeing is basically the surrounding suburbs vs. inner city neighborhoods with typical problems (crime, drugs, etc.), even thought they really are less far apart geographically than people typically associate with city/suburbs.

Mouse is correct - those people that are moving out of Utica / Rome, that aren't moving out of state, are moving to the suburbs of Utica / Rome.

This question is not even worth answering. If you don't know why Utica and Rome's real estate are dirt cheap then I suggest you drive to those cities and take a look around.

what Utica needs is nice, affordable downtown apartments. They talk about renovating buildings and turning them into lofts, but it never happens. The only downtown apts in utica are for seniors and disabled people

Yeah, I Live Between Utica And Rome. Lots Of Real Estate Because There Are No Jobs And Neither City Has Much To Offer Unless You Don't Mind Living In Slums Or Drug Infested Neighborhoods. That's Why Im Moving South. At Least I Can Escape High Heating Costs And Outragous Taxes.
