Canton NY or Canton OH...if it is Canton NY you are interested in, my brother lives there (currently he is away for a year) but I do know about the place....there was also a thread comparing Potsdam to Canton...the author of it now lives in Canton I believe
He could probably help you.
In terms of housing and crime, I would think that Canton would win.

I've lived in Batavia for over 32 years.......I'm also a city employee and have owned 4 homes there and raised 3 kids there.......what do you want to know??
I do not know anything about Canton. Batavia is the hub of western NY, 30 miles from both Buffalo and Rochester. It currently has a population of about 16-18 thousand people. It is the county seat of Genesee county, which has about 55k people.
Batavia is exit 48 on the Thruway, mile marker 390.
Feel free to ask anything here or PM me if you like.......
Respectfully,
Frank D.

Hello, I attended Genesee Community College in Batavia but know little about Canton. Batavia is a really nice place to raise a family and relax. The crime there is not much and it can get boring at times. Housing isn't really as high as other areas and the quality of life there is pretty decent for the most part. The good thing about Batavia is that you are pretty close to grocery stores and pretty much any little thing needed. You are also smacked down between Rochester and Buffalo. 30 minutes each way.
