Default Car emissions inspection

Hello,
I have a '93 BMW that did not pass emissions last year and the dealership told me that as long as I spent $400 on repairs that it would be waived.
(he tried to various repairs, but nothing would fix the emissions so it could pass). Next month my inspection is due, and I think he said it was just a one time thing for the $400. waiving., so am I stuck having to get rid of my car that runs perfectly & looks new as well? I can't afford a new car this year like I thought I might be able to. Does anyone know if anything can be done in this situation? Thanks in advance! Cara

Scroll down to 'What happens if my vehicle inspection expires while I'm in another state?' on this site: NYS DMV - Vehicle Safety, Inspection, Repairs and Dealers

You can send in for a 10 day extension, but ONLY for 10 days. And having an expired safety inspection sticker could also be a violation in Florida, per the NYS website!!!
