Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning to move to Glens Falls in the spring of 2015, he already has a great job and we are going to be purchasing a home. We're relocating from small town VT but have lived in various suburbs mostly in the northeast. We will be having children soon and would like to have a dog. My biggest concern is safety, we have a budget of about 175,000 for a house. Hope for taxes to be less than 4000.00/ year. Do you have any recommendations on different parts of Glens Falls? Is it all relatively safe? My husband prefers to have a bit of space in between the houses, for instance he does not want a single lane driveway. I love older, Victorian houses, covered porches. We would also consider a multi family with a bigger price tag but we are planning on purchasing with his income only as I may go to school full time. We're both in our 30's and would appreciate a walking neighborhood that's safe. Any suggestions? What about South Glens Falls/ West Glens Falls/ North Glens Falls? I see they're all on the map but not sure what the difference is. It would be super cool to be within walking distance to shops or downtown. Thanks so much for your input

Here are homes listed within your budget, with potential tax, home type, age and location info: Property Search Results

All of the homes on that list are within the city limits.

Another option may be to look into nearby villages like Fort Edward, South Glens Falls or Hudson Falls and to see if they fit your criteria. Property Search Results

As far as safety goes, its a generally safe area. The only area I might avoid living in is here:

There's just better areas. Also, look closely if you decide on Hudson Falls, or Fort Edward, etc. Not bad areas, just a very different feel altogether. Since your from VT, think Glens Falls being more like Rutland and Hudson Falls being more like St. Johnsbury.
