As a South Carolinian I always admire NY for its vivacious and extravagant atmosphere. I notice that there are numerous folks from NY who move to SC. I want to know what are their thoughts about SC. As for me, it is still in the plan for me to visit or move to NY someday especially Long Island.
Many people like myself lived in NY prior, but aren't New Yorkers.
I'm a New Englander and never liked New York much (even after 20 years), so I'm happy to be here.

You don't want to waste your time going on a special trip to Long Island. Believe me. For the most part, it isn't much different than New Jersey.

I've only been to Myrtle Beach.
If it's anything like the rest of the south.. I'll take a pass.
I am originally from the south and currently live in NY. My opinion of SC, which is mainly the Rock Hill/Charlotte(NC) area and myrtle beach is that everything is very "new", which I guess isn't a bad thing but I feel that there isn't much character or history just alot of box stores and chain restaurants. However, I have never been to Charleston which I hear is similar to Savannah GA in architecture which I lived for about a year and loved to history and "feel" of the city.
It's a large state. Lots of special old places, lots of new sprawly places with soccer moms, places that go on forever without many people, northern escapees, local rednecks, local educated people, local working people, golfers, hunting enthusiasts, church people, atheists, black, white, gay, crazy and not so. "God" is invoked down here as much as "Diversity" is up North. That's the way it is.
