Addison, Steuben County - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_S...son,_New_York) - is one block off and parallel to NY 417 so even the few who might casually pass through have no idea of how many blocks of quaintness this village has.

Clarence is very quaint. Lake Placid also comes to mind.

In terms of Clarence, are you referring to the area of the town along Main Street?

Sorry, my mistake. I don't know why I said Clarence. I meant North Collins. I haven't been in Clarence in so long I couldn't tell you if it was more like Detroit or North Collins. Mea Culpa.

Old Forge is a charming small town community touching on Adirondack lakes and a fine small ski mountain.
During summer tourist season it can be over run with vacation people.

Non-tourist traps with defined town centers from left to right: Mayville, Allegany, Portville, Wellsville, Cuba, Angelica, and Mt. Morris.
