seems like a long shot that i'll get an answer on this but i'm striking out elsewhere.
does Putnam Valley run a curbside garbage collection service? or is it all private?
i tried calling the number indicated on the town's website, but i haven't had much luck in getting answers or even returned calls from any department in the town office. i'm moving to the town in a couple weeks and haven't been able to figure this out.
Outside of cities, most places in NYS don't have municipal trash pick-up, and residents pay for the service privately. If they have no one to answer the phone, that should give you some indication of the scope of their municipal services. Lol.
indeed, seems like a safe inference. but i think certain parts or districts actually do have municipal garbage collection. i found a reference to it on the town site, but i still can't make sense of it.
i got a call back from someone at town hall, went to vm since i was working at the time. the message said that there were a couple of licensed carting companies, and only those could operate in PV. i'd have to call back to get the list. but you can't really get through, so it's a matter of phone tag.
you'd think that if there were only a couple of acceptable companies that you can call, they might just put their contact info on the town website....
i'm still wondering if i have the option of hauling my own to a municipal dump.
there is no municipal garbage collection or dump for Putnam Valley. there are 4 or 5 private companies chartered to pick up garbage and recycling in the town. you must use one of these. for an accurate list you should probably check with the PV town hall, but i went with AAA Carting (out of Buchanan, i think). they collect garbage and recycling weekly. roughly $35/month.
