Default Malone, NY

I currently live in Plattsburgh, and may need to relocate to the Malone area for a job. I am a single late thirties woman. Could someone update me on the "dating scene", apartment costs, stores, restaurants, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Mliss

What job could you possibly be transferred to Malone for? LOL...As far as apartments and housing a one bedroom will usually run you anywhere from 400-500 a month, I pay 425 with everything included for a one bedroom bungalow. As far as the dating scene I am positive that you are better off in Plattsburgh. There is only farmers and druggies around here that is why I am moving away. There is two sit down resturants in the whole town except for Fast food places which we are really good at building alot of along with car dealership and convenience stores. As far as shopping we have a peebles, label shopper, walmart, kmart, fashion bug and several dollar stores. We have more bars than churches if that is a concern for you and three prisons and a county jail. If you want any more infomation feel free to ask I know alot about this town having lived here my whole life.

Well you are close to the border at Trout River and it is just a hop step and a jump to Mtl.....oh yeah, I forgot it is probably faster to get to MTL via the interstate and autoroute.

My sympathies to you.

I have a question about a family named Gero, that was my fathers name, he was adopted and his mother lived in Malone. He was killed in an accident 50 years ago and I am trying to find information. He also had a sister Mrs. M.I. Groves. The only information I have is from a letter signed Joan and Mom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Walt

Hey at least Malone is known for something in alternative music circles; it is Bob Mould's hometown (though he hasn't lived there since he left for college in the late 1970's).

Walt, you might want to post in the People Search section at the bottom of the main City Data forum. Good luck!

Malone was the town that spawned Orville Gibson (of the guitar fame). But that ride between Plattsburgh and Malone truly shows the tragedy of economics in upstate NY.

If I had to work in Malone...I'd buy a place in Montreal and get a roomate for a couple of nights in Malone.
