In 2003 I had written permission from my previous landlord to have a satellite dish installed from DIRECTV. In 2010 a new landlord took over the building. Letters were never sent to the tenants or stipulated in the lease that satellite dishes were not allowed. The landlord had the super cut the cables to my Cablevision & DIRECTV and remove the satellite dish. Could the new landlord do this, even though I had written permission back in 2003. Is there anyone that can advise me on what to do. Janie S.

Check out this link (FCC website):

In many cases, landlords are not permitted to deny satellite dishes. Not sure if it applies in your specific situation, but something to look into. If you are covered by this, you could try contacting the FCC for direction. While a real longshot, perhaps the satellite provider would offer some more information.

You could threaten to take the landlord to small claims court... you likely have a contract with Direct TV, or some sort of liability because they cut your service and confiscated your equipment (dish). Small claims may help you recover those costs.
