They should take a cue from the Whitesville Central School's mascot.

I think they should change it to make it more neutral. If indeed it is a historical pose depicting a wrestling scene of the time, keep the Indian and the White man in a wrestling pose, but a more neutral wrestling pose.

Yup.

I mean, if there was a town called Irishtown that was 94% Irish and the town seal was a red-headed Irishman tackling a stereotypical Italian guy in a wife-beater shirt, I definitely wouldn't be offended (I'd probably laugh about it) but I might not want to live there.

+1 to the better artist suggestion. Looks like they had a kindergarten competition and the loser got theirs picked for the town seal.

Based on the historical significance, I personally see no problem with the seal. Along the line of artwork quality, a better drawing could certainly eliminate any confusion as to what it is depicting.

The interesting thing I find is a comment in one of the linked articles. This seal is on village police cars. I might find it a bit troubling to drive through a town where the police cars all featured a large image of a person who _appears_ to be strangling and throwing another to the ground. Doesn't really make for a good first impression.

Looks like a case of great concept, horrible execution.

Let the town vote on what they want, if they receive negative publicity because of their decision they can deal with it.

Regardless of what people think of its meaning and depiction, it looks like a silly cartoon.
The residents should be embarassed about voting for bad artwork, if nothing else.
