To be honest, they may have just randomly picked 15 small villages and said that is it.
Croghan in Lewis County with its meat market(Croghan Bologna), old school soda fountain, Maple museum, nearby Mennonite culture and in the foothills of the Adirondacks could have been another choice.

Agreed, Bolton Landing is beautiful 10 months of the year. In the summer it's tourist central, overflow from Saratoga.

I would have added Greig to the list, for Brantingham Lake, but its population of 1,199 makes it a major city in this part of the world!
