Question New City Commuting?

I looked at some houses in the New City area (North HS Area) and like the area. Its only 34 miles to my job in manhattan. How is the commute? What do most people do? Drive? Train? Bus? If so, where and how long to 34th street and west side?

My friend lives in New City and commutes everyday to East Midtown. It takes her anywhere between 1 -2hours depending on traffic. Average ride takes her 1hour and 15min. She uses the Spring Valley Park and Ride/ Coach USA Buses. I believe it's approx $300 in commuting costs for her.
