Red face Thinking of relocating from FL

Hi all!
My husband and I are considering relocating back to the northeast. We're both originally from NY (me-Brooklyn, him-upstate and Long Island). We have three young children so schools are a big issue. I'm a teacher and my husband is a mobile DJ. Any suggestions as to areas we might look into? We've discussed Monroe but I don't really know much about it. We're also not opposed to other nearby states (CT,PA,MA,NH). Help?

Orange County - Monroe-Woodbury area, Warwick, Goshen, Washingtonville, and Cornwall to name a few are some of the towns a lot of buyers coming into the county are asking for. Orange County is still building and there is still a lot of room for growth and is expanding rapidly.

The Real Estate market is not nearly as bad as some the media make it out to be here. Actual Sales prices (according to raw data) have pretty much stayed level over the last 2 years (plus or minus 5K depending on the town). There's a lot of inventory for you to choose from across the entire spectrum depending on the price range you would be looking into.

We have award winning schools throughout the county. If you go to SchoolMatch.com you can research the different school districts here to see how they rate against the NY State and Nationwide.

If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask...That's what we're here for!

Good Luck!

~Joey

Thanks! Any help is appreciated. We're also considering the Albany area. In our research, some of the suburbs look nice...Guilderland, Delmar, East Greenbush. Any information or personal input on these areas? Is the environment one where my husband's career can flourish? (mobile DJ) How about for teachers? What is the average salary? How about home prices? We were thinking to stay in the 200k range for 3-4 BR with a decent sized lot. Thanks again for your help.

I couldn't even begin to tell you about the Albany area as I've only been up there twice...both times to take a Real Estate exam. But in the 200K range there's a good amount of homes in the Orange County area that may suit your needs. The median home price in Orange County is now in the mid 300's. I'm sure the burbs outside of Albany are cheaper, but I could be wrong.

There are a handful of people on here that can tell you everything about the Albany area and I'm sure they'll chime in.

Good Luck!!!

~Joey

Hi,
My sister actually lives in Monroe & I myself live about 15 minutes North of Monroe. It has very great schools for the kids. The high school is Excellent and offers every sport you can think of. Another part of town which has impecable schooling is the Town Of Montgomery, in the Village Of Maybrook. The elementary schools only hold about 200 kids & the education is excellent. The High School is also great holding only about 1000 kids. I say only because growing up in the Bronx, 1000 kids were easily in our elementary school. Moderator cut: realtor soliciting
