Hello looking to possibly buy land in the area was wondering what kind of towns they are what there is to do and how the commute is to the major cities in NY. Want to know about recreational activities too like snowmobiling etc... And entertainment, malls etc...Fun for adults and the teens. I searched and couldn't find anything but direct me if there is another thread I didn't see thank you.

It is a good distance from Syracuse and the media market that covers this area is the Binghamton area. Oneonta or Norwich are the closest cities in terms of things to do, shopping, etc. Binghamton is the best bet for closest decent sized area with more. All are rural/small towns.

Thank you will take a look around there again. I don't know practical mileage and commute time but we used to travel from Le Roy to Buffalo and I think that was longer distance. I just recognized who answered my question How are you? I haven't found anything bad about the area but did talk to the code dept and they said not really any rules but all within reason. Were finally trying to narrow things down and what is available when we're ready to sign the dotted line will make the difference. It's all about timing and availability I guess. And I was realizing being a little closer to my Mom in Long Island is a good thing but if I found the dream property I guess she will have to move near us

A commute from Sidney, Oxford or Preston to Syracuse would be a much longer commute. Probably an hour and a half or so. Binghamton from these communities would be more in line with the LeRoy to Buffalo commute.

what kind of property are you looking for?
