We are relocating to Ithaca from about an hour away and I could use some more opinions on the local school districts in the area. Our kids are elementary age. From the info I have been able to find it appears that people like both the Ithaca and Lansing districts. Can anybody offer any info on the Newfield school district? I'm looking for personal experience with these districts and not necessarily test scores. Some of the things that we are hoping to avoid in a school are: teachers who scream at their class on a regular basis, behavior charts and reward systems, shortened lunch and recess periods for test prep, and bullying issues. We are interested in a school district with strong parent involvement, dedicated teachers, administration that works with both teachers and parents, play based and hands on learning opportunities, and a supportive environment. I think right now we are considering living in either Ithaca, Lansing, or Newfield school district, but we are open to others as well. I would love to hear any and all experiences with any of the area school districts! Thanks!

Have you looked into Trumansburg, Groton or Dryden as well?
We have considered those areas, but we know nothing about the schools or those areas in general.
