It's a mix of both. You can tell they have passion as artists but any time the idea of getting a full time job and becoming a more productive member of society is brought up, they brush it off as if it's beneath them. Or they just complain about the low pay. Or how the government rips them off. If it's not one thing, it's another.

I can only take so much of those people.

I'm sure there are self employed artists in the area who aren't this way, but in my experiences, most are.

Got ya'...You would think that they would do both, as you could work a "regular" job and still do art. If anything, having that job may help fund and perhaps take things to a higher level.


I think with the article, what may be happening with some when looking at the increase, is that some may move from bigger cities that have higher overall costs of living. I'm wondering if some of those are like you described
