It seems inconceivable that anyone could beat Andrew Cuomo in the NYS Democratic primary. But it looks like Cynthia Nixon may try.

'Sex and the City' star Cynthia Nixon could be New York's next governor: A look at her political activism | Fox News

Cuomo seems untouchable, but, really, does anyone actually like him. A lot of NYer reflexively vote Democrat, and with Trump in office, any Republican challenger seems doomed. But an insurgent female attach from the left could be a problem for Cuomo. For the left, he's too far to the right, and he rampant unlikability isn't going to drive voters to the primary.

Could a sneak attack work?

Perhaps, but I hope she can appeal to Upstaters as well.

Well, women being a big chunk of the Democrat base, I think she'll appeal to a lot of them. But the way the political system works, the people that come out for primaries are the machine influenced (think unions) and the extremists/true believers. She'll do poorly with the former, but very well with the latter, who think Cuomo is too right wing for their tastes.

With Trump as president and Oprah, Ben Affleck, and Kanye West as conceivable candidates for that office, I don't see why Cynthia Nixon couldn't be governor of New York.

In fact, instead of elections, we can just have new political office categories added to the Oscars, Emmys, and Grammys.

We can save ourselves the trouble and cost of a conventional election and can all watch the country go down the toilet as we redefine the term 'cult of personality' as 'cult of celebrity.'

So far, it doesn't seem like she has much of a platform outside of social justice and increased funding for schools.
I don't know how she plans to address the over regulation and high taxes. It sounds like she might make things worse.

It's also time for Cuomo to go. He really hasn't done anything spectacular or memorable for NYS. Cuomo played things too cautiously because he was hoping to become President of the US (run for that office). He should have been focusing on genuinely running NYS.

If Cynthia is a good campaigner she could use the MTA against him. It's a disaster and where is the governor? It needs serious reform in it's contracts (overspending) and in it's finance, and Cuomo has been slow to address this.
