My husband and I are going through search for home in suburbs and would like to learn more about Bronxville. So far we have really been focused on Southern CT but the shorter commute to NYC from Bronxville is very appealing. We have 2 young children- boy and girl- who we would like to send to public school but open to private options as well. Inform on the schools would be great- we've heard they are extremely competitive as most schools in this area tend to be.

Another big consideration is that we are biracial- husband black and I am white- and we don't have sense for how diverse or welcoming this area would be for our family.

Thank you in advance!

Try the Westchester forum and consider Tuckahoe. Small, diverse school district next to Bronxville that is still good. Perhaps Pelham as well.

Bronxville schools are very private school-ish. Small, homogeneously rich, if not also racially. All students at the same campus. I can’t see anyone moving there with the intention of going to private school. The schools are great. But if it’s not a fit for your particular family than don’t move there in the first place.

When I was growing up back in the late 80s, there was one black student at Bronxville School. And he had blue eyes.

Hello, we are leaving Bronxville and moving to Singapore this summer. I have had my three sons attend Bronxville the past 5 years and have experienced K-10th as my boys are all three years apart. The schooling is amazing and the parent body is truly impressive. You feel a real sense of community here and the Wall ability is lovely. I’m renting out my townhouse located a three minute walk to the train and an 8 min walk to the school. Look up 24 Gramatan Court in Bronxville on Zillow.

I would post this in the Westchester forum for more replies...

Elle 1983's thread made me really interested because we, asian, non-christian couple with a kid, are also thinking of moving to Bronxville because of its reputable schools. I'd like to ask ejt5 and 987ABC whether the village would welcome asian family.

I think it absolutely would welcome an Asian family. It’s 2018 and we are talking about an inner suburban in NY. What’s probably more likely is that Asian families avoid Bronxville because they are self-conscious about being in a distinct minority.
